Comfortably occupying most played artist at ANF HQ for the past few months, Lancastrian expat Jon Collin (now residing in Sweden) sees his mostly out-of-print back-catalogue plunged into by Gothenburgs IDDB sub-label Frdmning Arkiv for the aptly titled, retrospective of sorts Music From Cassettes, Etc (2008-2017). Pulled together from many of Jons own hand-made releases via his own Winebox press imprint, the compilation reveals the breath of styles explored between 07 and 2017; shifting between strung-out front-porch blues, close moments of fuzzy amp hover and squealing yet somehow contained psych-outs that still maintain this unique sense of intimacy. Notes and melodies float, colouring the enviroment and adding a feel of lingering melancholy, and despite these recordings being uncovered from the past, the deep sensation of musical time dilation that couldt be more perfectfor right now.
